Thursday 1 July, Fly from USA

Book your flight to leave from the USA on July 1 to arrive in Glasgow on the 2nd and depart from Inverness on July 13th. If you want to arrive early, check with me first so I can assure you that you have a room in the Glasgow hotel. If you plan on extending the tour, let me know soon as I am only holding rooms at the Culloden House by request.

Friday/Saturday 2/3 July, Glasgow

Activities: You will be provided with a Hop On, Hop Off bus pass which will keep you well entertained. Most of the Glasgow museums are free.

Sunday/Monday/Tuesday 4/5/6 July: Dunkeld

Activities: On our way to Dunkeld we will visit the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies. While we are in Dunkeld, we will visit Crannog Centre Loch Tay and the Scottish Deer Centre. There will also be plenty of free time to explore the river and the 280 acres that surround our beautiful hotel.

Dinner, Bed, and Breakfast at the Dunkeld House Hotel

Wednesday/Thursday 7/8 July: Brora

On our way to Brora we will explore Blair Castle and Grounds, and also visit the Highland Folk Museum.
While in Brora, we will visit Dunrobin Castle, including the Falconry. No tour of Scotland would be complete without visiting a distillery. The Clynlish Distillery is only a 5 mins drive from Brora.

Dinner, Bed, and Breakfast at the Royal Marine Hotel

Friday/Saturday 9/10 July: Kirkwall and the Orkney Islands

Today we will head north and take a ferry to the Orkney Islands. While in Kirkwall, we will visit the 5,000 year-old Neolithic village, Skara Brae, and also walk amongst the tall Standing Stones of Stenness. Skara Brae is special, a major reason why a number of BETvets are coming on this tour. Ya gotta see it!

Dinner, Bed, and Breakfast at The Orkney Hotel

Sunday/Monday 11/12 July: Inverness

Today we return to the mainland of Scotland to Inverness. During our time in Inverness, we will visit the Culloden Battle Site and Visitors Center. Afterwards, we will take the Jacobite Cruise of Caladonian Canal and Loch Ness. (Free future BET tour for anyone who takes a certifiable photo of Nessie!) On one of our nights we will celebrate 4  July BET birthdays–76 & 81. The hotel has promised to provide a cake with “309” prominently displayed signifying the total number of collective years. I’ve already ordered enough wine and Prosecco for the occasion. Should be fun.

Dinner, Bed and Breakfast at the Best Western Palace Hotel & Spa, Inverness

Tuesday 13 July: Fly from Inverness

After a final breakfast, transfer to Inverness Airport for your flight home, independent travel elsewhere, or the Culloden House Option.

Tuesday/Wednesday 13/14 July: Culloden House Option

Spend two nights in the lap of luxury in the Culloden House, a few miles south and east of Inverness;  At the time of the Jacobite uprising in 1745-46, Bonnie Prince Charlie used Culloden House, this hotel, as his lodging and battle headquarters prior to that decisive battle on Culloden Moor. Option will include transfer from Inverness to the Culloden House, and transfer back to the Inverness Airport on 15 July. Price to be determined.
